Publication Ethics and Malpractice Statement
Journal of Innovations in Learning and Technology (JILT) is committed to upholding the highest standards of publication ethics and integrity. The journal adheres to the ethical guidelines of the Committee on Publication Ethics (COPE). For detailed COPE guidelines, click here.
JILT ensures compliance with national and international ethical standards, strictly prohibiting malpractice such as plagiarism, data fabrication, or unethical research conduct. The following outlines the responsibilities of all parties involved in the publication process:
Responsibility of Editors
- Editors evaluate manuscripts solely on academic merit, without bias regarding race, gender, ethnicity, religious beliefs, or political views.
- Confidentiality of manuscripts is maintained, and information is shared only with relevant parties (e.g., authors, reviewers, and publishers).
- Editors do not use unpublished materials from submitted manuscripts for their own research without explicit consent.
- Editors recuse themselves from handling submissions with conflicts of interest and reassign such manuscripts to other editors.
- The peer-review process is impartial and involves experts in the field.
- The Editor-in-Chief is responsible for final decisions on publication based on the manuscript’s validity, relevance, and reviewers’ feedback.
Responsibility of Reviewers
- Reviewers assist editors in making editorial decisions and help authors improve their manuscripts.
- Manuscripts under review are treated as confidential documents.
- Reviewers must decline to review if they feel unqualified or unable to meet deadlines.
- Feedback must be objective, constructive, and supported by clear arguments. Personal criticism of authors is inappropriate.
- Reviewers should disclose conflicts of interest and notify editors if significant overlap with other works is identified.
- Ethical concerns, such as potential plagiarism, must be reported to the editor.
Responsibility of Authors
- Authors must ensure their work is original, accurate, and free from data fabrication or misrepresentation.
- Manuscripts must not be submitted to multiple journals simultaneously. Proper acknowledgment of all sources is mandatory.
- Authors must disclose conflicts of interest and funding sources and obtain ethical approval for studies involving human or animal subjects.
- Authors should retain research data for at least five years and provide it upon request while ensuring participant confidentiality.
- Authorship must be limited to contributors who significantly participated in the study, with all co-authors approving the final manuscript.
- Authors must promptly correct or retract published works if significant errors are identified.
Plagiarism Policy
JILT has a strict policy against plagiarism. All submissions are screened using iThenticate or Turnitin, and significant plagiarism results in rejection. Post-publication plagiarism cases lead to corrections or retractions, with notifications sent to the relevant parties.
Data Storage and Sharing
Authors must retain research data for at least five years post-publication and provide anonymized data upon request.
Protection of Participants’ Rights and Interests
Authors must maintain the confidentiality of research participants and secure informed consent for participation. Ethical approval is required for studies involving vulnerable populations.
Rules for Requesting an Erratum
If errors are identified in a published article, authors must notify the editor promptly. Corrections or retractions will be issued as necessary.
Advertising Policy
JILT does not accept third-party advertisements. Only announcements related to relevant academic events may be published, with no influence on editorial decisions.
Direct Marketing Policy
JILT uses social media to announce new issues and share updates but does not actively solicit manuscripts through direct marketing campaigns.
